The Christie's London Internships programme is designed for individuals who are genuinely interested in art, business, or pursuing a career in the art world. The programme offers interns a chance to immerse themselves in the company's practical operations, providing them with a better understanding of Christie's work and its role in the art world.
The London Internships programme is a six-month opportunity for successful applicants to work within Christie's. During this time, they will gain valuable insights into the workings of an international auction house, observe the day-to-day operations of the company, and learn about its role in the art world.

We undertake a selection process based on formal criteria, the application form and an interview. Examples of the key criteria include:
History of Art Graduate (or other relevant major)
Previous work experience – both voluntary and paid – within the art sector

Practical experience and objectives
Christie's belief is that the best way to gain experience is through practical involvement in the activities of each department. Therefore, Graduate Interns will be allowed to participate in each aspect of the department's activities to gain an overview of them.
Normal tasks include:
Administration
Archiving
Writing catalogue notes
Research
Managing libraries
Helping to set up exhibitions
Covering phones
Specific projectsThe standard hours worked by Christie’s are 9am to 5pm, however many of Christie’s most exciting and interesting events and activities such as major sales and functions take place in the evenings. We strongly recommend that Graduate Interns become involved in these events — if possible by taking an active role in their organisation.
Number of Internships
Internships are available throughout the year and are advertised directly on our Careers page.
Sponsorship duration
Interns will be employed on a six-month temporary contract with a one-month probationary period at the beginning of the programme. To allow others an opportunity to gain experience we regret that Internships cannot extend beyond a total duration of 12 months.
Scholarship benefits
Interns will be entitled to £369.25 per week.
Method of Application
To apply for an Internship at Christie’s, please click here and keyword search “Intern”.
Applicants from abroad must also be able to demonstrate to our satisfaction that they have all necessary permissions and papers to enable them to attend Christie’s as Graduate Intern. We do not organise visas for those individuals coming from abroad.
It is important to note that demand for Internships far exceeds the availability of places; regrettably, we can only respond to those who have been successful in securing an internship with us.
DEADLINES:
Internships are available throughout the year. Apply as soon as you can.
PLEASE NOTE:
Our graduate internship program involves allocating interns to a specific department based on their preferences and availability. While we try our best to place interns in the department of their choice, it may not always be possible due to the high number of applicants and limited positions available. However, we guarantee that all interns will gain valuable experience and insights into Christie's, regardless of which department they are placed in, whether it be a specialist, business or administrative department.
Founded in 1766 by James Christie, Christie’s has 53 offices in 32 countries and 10 salerooms worldwide including in London, New York, Paris, Geneva, Milan, Amsterdam, Dubai and Hong Kong.
